I was born and grew up in
Pax, graduated from Mt Hope High School, and have a BA from Concord. Eight years was spent in the Air Force
(one in Viet Nam) and twenty years an air traffic controller/computer analyst for the Federal Aviation Administration.
I was an instructor for nine more years at the FAA Academy for the FAA and The University Oklahoma. I retired in 2001.
My wife, Susan, an RN at
Raleigh
Regional
Cancer Center, and I make our
home in Pax.
I am Pro Life, Pro sportsman,
Pro future for WV, and Pro people of WV. I am in Church three times a week, I held a Bible class in the Putnam County jail, taught
Sunday Schools, and was a Lay Speaker for the Methodist Church. Family values are very important to me.
I am a member of National
Right To Life and have been endorsed by West Virginians For Life.
I am a member of the Paint Creek Watershed Association and volunteer for the National Park Service. I am an ATV owner and a gun owner. I am a member the NRA and have received
an A rating. When eligible, I have always been a member of the local union.
I believe that West Virginia tourism
is a unique renewable economic resource that is not being as aggressively developed as it should be. I believe the Department
of Environmental Protection should be strengthened to protect our miners and the environment. I believe that if West Virginia had a tax base in which
out of state landowners paid their fair share our schools would not need to be consolidated. I believe that the coal severance
tax should be paid to the county from which it came. I believe that the people of southern West Virginia are getting ripped off at
the gas pump.
In my wildest imagination,
never did I think that I would be running for this office and I have no interest in spending the remainder of my life in politics,
but I have a strong conviction to do what is best for the future of WV and the future of our children. I am not satisfied
with being last in the good categories and first in the bad categories. A change needs to be made! John Kennedy said “Ask not what your
country can do for you, but what you can do for your country”. I want to do something for my state and I need your help.
Some of you, like I was,
are Democrats because your parents and grandparents were, however, the Democrat Party is not the party of your parents or
your grandparents, it began drifting away in the sixties. It left you, you won’t be leaving it. If you want to get back
to the values of past years, if you want to get back to what really matters, then there must be a change. For a change, vote
Republican. For a change, vote for Daniel Wright, I want to be your delegate.
Your Friend,
Daniel
Wright
